The Old House had been lately purchased by Henry Elkins Higgs from Jane Hayward. Higgs mortgaged the Old House to James Taylor, Merchant, for £120. The house had the burial ground to the north, the “New Building” of W.T. Tucker to the south, the former Zuill house now owned by J.B. Tucker to the west, and the street to the east.
